“Did You Know………?”
“50 Years Ago” In 1970-71, Catholic Central HS Boy’s Basketball Team defeated Vestal HS Team 84-76 to win the STAC Championship! Jim Coon (26) and Tom Eggleston (18) led Catholic Central in scoring. Catholic Central was coached by George Deuel.
Later that year, Vestal HS Baseball Team defeated Catholic Central HS 2-0 with Jim Doherty pitching a no-hitter, to win the STAC Championship! Vestal HS was coached by Lou Genette.
Our Community’s Sports Hall of Fame Museum is located in the Oakdale Mall and is open Thursdays through Sundays, from 12:00 Noon – 6:00 PM!

16 former T.C. Jets football players recently reunited and visited the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame Museum located at the Oakdale Mall, near J. C. Penney!

Our Community’s Sports Hall of Fame Museum is open Thursdays through Sundays, from 12:00 Noon – 6:00 PM.

Greater Binghamton Sports Hall Of Fame, Chris Coleman replaced Collegiate Heisman Trophy Winner (1982) and former NFL Running Back, Herchel Walker, as Brakeman on GB Sports HOF’er Randy Will’s USA Bobsled (4-Man) Team in the Olympics in 1992.

Hometown Middleweight Boxer Joe Taylor poses with boxing legend Joe Louis…
Binghamton’s own Joe Taylor fought professionally from 1947-1954 and here he poses at his Susquehanna street restaurant (Gentleman Joe Taylor’s ) with Joe Louis, circa 1960. Louis reigned as heavyweight champion from 1937-1949 and Taylor was the 9th-ranked middleweight in 1949. Taylor was inducted into the GB Sports HOF in 2019.

In this picture from July 1970, Joe Namath smiles for the camera as he poses with training camp teammate Ray Stanton Sr. Stanton played for Alabama’s archrival, Auburn, and was a member of the inaugural GBSHOF Class in 2015. When Coach Weeb Ewbank introduced Ray to Joe, he said “Here’s Ray Stanton, you better be careful, he’s from Auburn!”
